Rent Receipt Generator
Generate a full set of printable rent receipts for your HRA exemption claim. Everything runs entirely inside your browser — your name, your landlord's PAN and address are never sent to us or to anyone else, and nothing is stored.
Want your HRA and ITR handled properly?
HRA is one of the most commonly mis-claimed exemptions, and a wrong claim is an easy notice to attract. Share your details and we'll reach out to know more.
These receipts are generated from the details you enter and are intended as a record of rent actually paid. They do not by themselves establish a valid HRA claim — genuine payment, a real landlord-tenant relationship and supporting evidence all matter. Consult Fynvisor if you are unsure what your claim requires.
What a rent receipt needs to carry
- Tenant name, landlord name, and the address of the rented property
- The rent amount, the period it covers, and how it was paid
- The landlord's signature
- The landlord's PAN, if your annual rent exceeds ₹1,00,000. Without it your employer is generally required to disallow the HRA exemption at source.
- A revenue stamp, where rent is paid in cash and a single receipt exceeds ₹5,000
A few things worth knowing
HRA exemption under Section 10(13A) is available only under the old tax regime — if you have opted for the new regime, the exemption is not available regardless of the rent you pay. The exemption is the least of: actual HRA received; rent paid minus 10% of salary; and 50% of salary for Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata or Chennai, or 40% elsewhere. Our HRA Exemption Calculator works out all three limits and shows which one is capping your claim.
Rent paid to a parent or other relative is permissible, but it must be genuine — the income has to be declared by the recipient, and the arrangement should be supported by an actual transfer of money. Paying rent to a spouse is a recurring point of dispute and is best discussed before you claim.
